According to Zenith Bank’s CEO, Peter Amangbo, the bank has taken a provision on 30% of the loan it gave 9mobile four years ago while the telco restructures to prepare for a new investor. It’s interesting to note that Zenith Bank was the biggest lender to 9mobile among the consortium of banks that participated in the loan deal at the time.

Down in South Africa, Sanlam Investment Holdings, a subsidiary of Sanlam Limited, has reached an agreement with EasyEquities to acquire a 30% shareholding in the company at a $24m valuation. The fintech startup has been working on making investing in the stock market easy by reducing share trading fees. The deal is supposed to drive growth in client numbers for both of them as more South Africans become exposed to the financial markets.

Seedstars World will be in Accra on the 1st of September to watch 10 startups compete in front of their investment panel for a chance to take part in the regional and global Seedstars Summits. They will also be working closely with Enel Green Power to find innovative businesses in the energy sector. So, if you think your startup is up for some challenge, apply here.
