E-commerce platforms in Egypt, including Jumia, Souq and OLX, are now required by the country's finance ministry to charge a 14% value-added tax (VAT) on all items that would be subject to VAT if sold offline. According to Reuters, Egypt introduced a VAT of 13% in 2016, which rose to 14% in 2017.
