| In South Africa, government-owned Public Investment Corporation has reportedly increased its stake in MTN Group to 26 per cent. South African media says the PIC is taking advantage of the telco’s 10-year low stock price and an ongoing battle with regulators in Nigeria. But it could also mean that the PIC is shoring up Africa’s biggest telco. |

University students in South Africa will competing at the 7th Student Cluster Competition, MyBroadband reports. The goal is to build small high-performance computing clusters on the exhibition floor of the conference from hardware provided, and run a series of benchmarks on their systems. The winning team will get to represent South Africa (and Africa) at the International Supercomputing Conference Student Cluster Competition in Germany in 2019.
