Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has completed and opened a digital playground for children in Lagos Nigeria. The GTBank Play Centre is equipped with a wide range of interactive games that will give kids a fun and immersive digital experience whilst aiding their mental and intellectual development. Stellenbosch University in South Africa is planning on establishing a new innovation hub on a 30-hectare piece of land donated by the Stellenbosch Wine and Country Estate. The memorandum of agreement between the University and Stellenbosch Wine and Country Estate says that "the area may be developed for the tertiary instruction, facilities supporting the commercialisation of any knowledge, or arts and culture such as an amphitheatre and supporting infrastructure".
According to Techmoran, RxAll, the Nigerian startup tackling the problem of counterfeit drugs, received the €100,000 Global Challenge prize from BNP Paribas, Global Partner of Hello Tomorrow. RxAll’s digital platform enables anyone to test the quality of their drugs using a portable nanoscanner and mobile app. Fake medication is a $30 billion industry that poses a significant risk to patients throughout the world, especially in developing nations.
Tanzanian edutainment startup Ubongo, has won the ‘Next Billion’ Edtech Prize organized by The Varkey Foundation. The prize was founded in 2018 by Indian billionaire Sunny Varkey’s Varkey Foundation, to recognize innovation in education in low income and emerging markets.
The Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem, Oracle’s program for entrepreneurs and innovators worldwide, has committed to support 500 local startups in Ghana through access to Oracle Cloud technology, mentoring and workshops, business-enablement, and support resources. This is in partnership with the Government of Ghana through a program called Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program.

South African sports-tech startup, Fancam has secured access to mentoring and US$100,000 in funding, as one of six startups selected to take part in the accelerator programme run by St Louis-based venture capital firm Stadia Ventures. Stadia Ventures is an early-stage, sports and e-sports focused venture capital firm.

The African Development Bank has announced it will support 1000 additional youth entrepreneurs into the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program (TEEP). With the deal, a total of 3,050, young entrepreneurs across 54 African countries over the next year will receive support under this partnership.
